Chancellor of the Exchequer and Labour Leadership candidate Gordon Brown visited Southampton today. Mr Brown visited a home in the new development at Chapel which is
an example of inner-city regeneration with provision made for decent, affordable housing. He then moved on to meet Labour Party members, City Councillors as well as the City's two Labour
MPs.
Mr Brown said "I had to come to Southampton after your excellent performance in the local elections" (Labour gained two seats from the Liberal Democrats).
