14% reduction in crime in Southampton

Crime in Southampton fell by 14% last year acording to Hampshire police.  This shows that Labour’s community police teams are working.

John said, “Most people I talk to on the door step agree the new teams of police officers and Community Safety Officers are making a real difference, by keeping our streets safe.”

Labour councillor Simon Letts added, “Labour have always wanted more bobbies on the beat; we’ve never had so many.  But the Tories’ cuts nationally would mean 3,500 fewer officers dealing with everything from anti-social behaviour and burglary to murder and rape.

John’s government department is training 10,000 community champions to help the police and tackle anti-social behaviour.  For more information please visit http://localcrime.direct.gov.uk/
